Student Ambassador Scheme Recruitment

The Student Ambassador Scheme recruitment Application process consists of Two Stages.  

• Stage 1 : Student Ambassador Scheme Online Application.  
• Stage 2 : Student Ambassador Scheme Group Interviews*  

*Progression to stage two will depending on if your online application meets our assessment criteria 

The Online Application Form will ask you questions relating to our Professional Services Values along with questions to gage your experiences and skills. These questions are linked to the Student Ambassador Job Description and the Professional Services Values so make sure your answers reflect both so that you can meet our assessment criteria and progress to Stage 2. When writing the application, you will have a word limit, so quality of your answer is more important than the quantity of your answer.  

If your application was successful, you will be invited to group interview with fellow applicants. Here you will be presented with a mix of three individual and group tasks which will be assessed. These interviews allow us to get a more in-depth assessment of your character and see how you interact with others in new situations. During these interviews, it is important to interact with the tasks but also to be respectful of others.

The core role a Student Ambassador requires them to interact and communicate with others in a range of situations. They are Ambassadors in every sense of the word and represent Swansea University in a variety of events and activities to a range of audiences ranging from prospective students and their families to high-ranking officials. As such we look for a range of skills and competencies from our applicants to best help them suit the role.  

Below you will find list of competencies that we look for in our Student Ambassador and applicants should tailor their application to showcase examples where these competencies can be demonstrated 

Essential Skills 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
• Be enthusiastic, outgoing, reliable and punctual. 
• Ability to engage with, and enthuse a wide range of students. 
• Able to use own initiative, to problem solve and work creatively. 
• Be enthusiastic about your experience of Higher Education and a willingness to share this with others. 
• Current experience of life as a student at Swansea University. 
• To be open-minded, flexible and approachable with a willingness to learn. 

Desirable Skills 

• Experience of being a Student Ambassador. 
• Experience of presenting to or leading discussion groups. 
• Awareness of the various routes into Higher Education and an understanding of the British Education System. 
• Experience of working with young people. 
• Be committed to the ideals of fair access to Higher Education and have an understanding of barriers facing students. 
• Prior experience of working with a variety of people and a willingness to engage with individuals. 
• Ability to communicate through the Medium of Welsh. 
• Ability to speak other Languages. 
• Experience of creating and editing vlog content for YouTube. 
• Ability to create engaging content for TikTok, Instagram Stories and Reels. 
• A keen interest in Photography. 
• A keen interest in writing for Blogs.
