Student Ambassador Job Description

The Student Ambassador Scheme is managed by the Student Ambassador Scheme Manager, on behalf of Swansea University.

Student Ambassadors play a huge role in our events and activities; responsible for ensuring that visitors to the University receive a high quality and enjoyable experience, representing the University in a variety of roles and showing prospective students and parents around the University on organised campus tours. As a Scheme we oversee supplying staff for the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Open Days. 

If interested, you will also have the opportunity to be involved with the following –  

• Student Content Creators – working with the Social Media Team to create content including Vlogs for YouTube, TikToks and Instagram Reels to support the University Channels. 
• Feature in University Photoshoots and Campaign Videos 
• Telephone Calling Campaigns 
• Back to School Scheme  
• Talks and Presentations about Higher Education to Schools and Colleges 
• Workshops 
• Departmental Visits 
• Helplines and Admissions for Clearing and Adjustment 
• Assisting with Administration Tasks
• Answering enquires from future students

Student Ambassador Responsibilities Include:

1. Assisting the University in the delivery of Campus-Wide Engagement Opportunities including Undergraduate and Postgraduate Open Days and Swansea Science Festival.
2. Representing the University on Open Days and at a variety of virtual and physical, events deemed appropriate by the Student Ambassador Scheme Manager and Swansea Univeristy throughout the year.
3. Conducting Campus, Accommodation and Sports Tours at University-Wide Events.
4. Meeting and greeting visitors to the University, ensuring that visitors to the University receive a high quality and enjoyable visit.
5. Providing information and answering queries relating to student life at Swansea University to prospective students and their parents.
6. Opportunity to assist Colleges and Departments across the University.
7. Providing Oral and Written Feedback as part of the Student Ambassador Scheme evaluation process.
8. Any other task or role as deemed necessary by the Student Ambassador Scheme Manager and Swansea University.

3. To lead on the continual improvement of health and safety performance through a good understanding of the risk profile and the development of a positive health and
4. safety culture.
5. Any other duties as directed by the Head of College / Department or their nominated representative expected within the grade definition.
6. To ensure that risk management is an integral part of your day to day activities to ensure working practices are compliant with the University's Risk Management Policy. Grades 1-6

7. Current experience of life as a student at Swansea University.

Desirable Criteria:

1. Experience of being a Student Ambassador. 
2. Experience of presenting to or leading discussion groups. 
3. Awareness of the various routes into Higher Education and an understanding of the British Education System. 
4. Experience of working with young people. 
5. Be committed to the ideals of fair access to Higher Education and have an understanding of barriers facing students. 
6. Prior experience of working with a variety of people and a willingness to engage with individuals. 
7. Ability to communicate through the Medium of Welsh. 
8. Ability to speak other Languages. 
9. Experience of creating and editing vlog content for YouTube. 
10. Ability to create engaging content for TikTok, Instagram Stories and Reels. 
11. A keen interest in Photography. 
12. A keen interest in writing for Blogs.
