Our How to... Workshop series aims to give you the practical skills to bring your business to life or help you develop your business into the next stage! From marketing to pitching to investors, each session features a guest speaker and host, giving you a fresh perspective and actionable strategies with every workshop you attend!
Each session will be held on a Wednesday afternoon and will take place in our student Launchpad, Room 223, Talbot Building, Singleton Campus.

Got a business idea? Discover how to turn it into a reality.Ever thought about starting your own business but don’t know where to begin? This session is a practical introduction to entrepreneurship, covering how to generate business ideas, the first steps to getting started, and how the Student Enterprise Team can support you to start, launch and grow your business.
You’ll also hear from Swansea University graduate Evie Scott, founder of ETO Clothing, who will share her start-up journey, lessons learned along the way and answer your questions about starting a business.

Getting your first customer can be one of the biggest challenges when starting a business — but knowing who you’re targeting and how to reach them is a great place to start. In this practical session, you’ll learn how to understand your ideal customer, find out what they want and identify ways to attract them to your business.Delivered by Entrepreneur-in-Residence and founder of Ten15 Marketing, Lucy Beddall, you’ll leave with practical ideas and strategies to help you find your first customer.

Whether you’re pitching to investors, potential customers, partners or stakeholders, being able to communicate your business idea clearly and confidently is an essential skill. In this practical session, Entrepreneur-in-Residence Chris James will share tips and techniques for creating a compelling pitch, structuring your story and getting your message across.
This session is mandatory for students taking part in The Big Pitch competition.
- How to... Register your business - 09.12.2026
Our Business Adviser, Chris, is running a session on Wednesday, 09.12.2026, where he will guide you through the process of setting up your trading status as either a Sole Trader or Limited Company. You can either register your business then and there with his guidance, or come along to learn the process and what’s involved.
