Welcome to TRE
In partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS); the Digital Humanities and Research Data Team, along with the IT services at Swansea, have created a state-of-the-art Trusted Research Environment (TRE). This will enable Security Sensitive Research (SSR) projects to take place at Swansea. From very small, to very large collaborative projects and data-sets, TRE is a cloud-based research computing solution developed to aid the security, analysis and storage of sensitive data. TRE delivers a set of flexible tools and pre-built templates to support projects conducting security sensitive research.
The TRE offers a simple user interface which is designed for researchers, who can use the on-demand, self-service TRE workspaces in a flexible and cost-effective manner. In collaboration with our team, bespoke research computing environments that adhere to best practice cybersecurity standards can be quickly created, which are compliant with relevant legislation such as GDPR and UK Export Control. Full training on the use of TRE components is provided as a core part of their service.
