Keeping you in the loop

We want to make sure you have all the information and support you need to make the most of your time at Swansea University.

Be sure to check your University Outlook email account regularly, as it’s the primary way we communicate important information. This includes key announcements, deadlines, assessment support, policy changes, and updates from your Faculty, School, and teaching staff.

Alongside official communications sent to your email, we use a range of channels to help you stay informed and connected throughout your studies:

Weekly Newsletter

Each week during term-time, we’ll send you a round-up of the latest news, events, and opportunities from across the University. It’s a great way to stay connected and discover useful information to support your student experience, including University-wide updates, career and employability advice, wellbeing resources, financial support, and great initiatives for you to get involved in.

The MySwansea App is your home for all things Swansea Uni, including emails, timetables, campus maps and much more. Access all the essentials for student life, all in one place!

We also send emergency and official notifications through the app, like building closures or health and safety alerts.

Canvas

Canvas is your official online learning platform, giving you access to learning materials, lecture recordings, assignment submission points, and more. It also acts as a place for your Faculty and School to provide you with key updates.

It’s important to know your way around Canvas, as you’ll use it throughout your studies.

Hwb is the website for current students here at Swansea University. Whilst here you can access your account, apps, live chat and all the information you need to complete your studies.

You can find information on assessment, campus services, Faculty contacts, regulations and much more.

Keeping in touch

When you enrolled, you will have signed the Student Charter agreeing to certain communications responsibilities. Please make sure you are following the agreed principles.

Your responsibilities:

You must make sure that your student record is up-to-date at all times so that the University can contact you. It is your responsibility to ensure that your home and term addresses are correct on your academic record. To update your details:

Log into the intranet
Select Personal Details from the left-hand menu
Change your personal details including home and term address accordingly

Formal electronic correspondence from the University will be sent to your University e-mail address and occasionally to your personal e-mail address. It is therefore important that you check your University e-mail account daily and update your personal e-mail on the intranet, particularly before, during, and after examination/assessment periods.
