As well as subject specific support by college teaching staff and your personal academic mentor, the Centre for Academic Success provides courses, workshops and one-to-one support in areas such as:

• Academic writing
• Maths and statistics
• Critical thinking
• Time management
• Digital skills
• Presentation skills
• Note taking
• Revision, memory and exam techniques
• English language skills (if English is not your first language).

In addition, if you have a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD), disability, mental health or medical condition, the Centre for Academic Success have Specialist Tutors to support your learning, working alongside the Disability Office and Wellbeing Service to support all your needs and requirements whilst studying atSwansea University.

Your Disability Link Tutor is Dr Paula Row

As an undergraduate student you will be given a Personal Tutor. This is a member of teaching staff in the Faculty or School who acts as your key point of contact while you are at Swansea University.

You should meet with your Personal Tutor one-to-one at least once every Semester.  You may also be invited to group meetings or workshops with your Personal Tutor.

Your Personal Tutor will guide and support you with your academic, professional and personal development.  They can help you with:

• Reviewing your academic progress
• Accessing academic and personal support e.g. with welfare issues
• Understanding the exam and assessment system
• Academic references for placements / job applications
• Answering any other questions you may have or recommend where to best seek advice

Personal Tutor may also have ‘office hours’ when you can see them as well.  You can email your tutor if there is something you want to discuss and/or to arrange a meeting.

There is also the Applied Medical Sciences Society Medipharm Society, and Population Health & Medical Sciences Society

Joining your programme societies will allow you to interact with classmates in other years of the degree course

If you are interesting in being part of the Society, we have roles available which consists of:

Treasurer - Looking after the societies’ funds, making sure that anything you raise from membership is put back into the society (socials, end of year balls etc.) and it’s all documented (receipts etc.) with the SU

Social Sec - Planning the parties! Coming up with fun ideas for socials, booking with clubs/bars, and promotion of events

Secretary - Writing minutes in meetings and helping with general organising

Web  Officer-  Social media, posting events and monitoring the Facebook page

Publicity Officer -Organising & arranging marketing material, event décor, flyers, t-shirts etc
