Important: Attendance at Welcome Week Events

Welcome Week for September 2026 will take place from 21st until 25th September 2026, with a range of events taking place each day. Effort should be made by you to attend all events listed within the below timetable.

Events are a chance to gain insight to your chosen degree programme, ask questions and get to know both staff and students in your department. We look forward to meeting you!

Induction timetable 2026

Monday 21st September

This timetable is for those beginning Year 1 in Materials Science and Engineering.

10:00 - 13:00 - Welcome and Induction Talk- A015, Engineering East

Meet your student course mates for the first time along with Academic staff from your department who will introduce your programme of study, provide you with key academic information and direct you to useful course resources.

13:00 - 16:00 Welcome Lunch and Lab Tour - Engineering East A222

Meet your course mates and staff for a lab tour of the facilities.

16:00 - 18:00 - Welcome Quiz & Social Hosted by the Materials Engineering Society - B014, Engineering Central

Come along and get to know your Society! In this session a quiz will be hosted by the Materials Engineering Society with prizes to be won!
