Throughout our degree programmes we work to provide our students with opportunities in and around your School, the city with our industry partners and sign-post for international opportunities available to you. As a student at Swansea University, you will have the opportunity to engage with industry, take on placement opportunities and complete work experience, so that you are fully equipped for the world of work when you leave us. This process is facilitated by the Careers and Employability team who aim to provide careers advice and employment opportunities all under one roof.

As well as subject specific support by college teaching staff and your personal academic mentor, the Centre for Academic Success provides courses, workshops and one-to-one support in areas such as:

• Academic writing
• Maths and statistics
• Critical thinking
• Time management
• Digital skills
• Presentation skills
• Note taking
• Revision, memory and exam techniques
• English language skills (if English is not your first language).

In addition, if you have a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD), disability, mental health or medical condition, the Centre for Academic Success have Specialist Tutors to support your learning, working alongside the Disability Office and Wellbeing Service to support all your needs and requirements whilst studying at Swansea University.

As  student you will be given an Personal Tutor.  This is a member of teaching staff in the Faculty or School who acts as your key point of contact while you are at Swansea University.

You should meet with your Personal Tutorone-to-one at least once every Semester.  You may also be invited to group meetings or workshops with yourPersonal Tutor

Your Academic Mentor will guide and support you with your academic, professional and personal development.  They can help you with:

• Reviewing your academic progress
• Accessing academic and personal support e.g. with welfare issues
• Understanding the exam and assessment system
• Academic references for placements / job applications
• Answering any other questions you may have or recommend where to best seek advice

Mentors may also have ‘office hours’ when you can see them as well.  You can email your tutor if there is something you want to discuss and/or to arrange a meeting.

The main purpose of the Nursing Buddy Scheme is to help new students settle into Swansea University and the course, by enabling students to meet up with thier buddy on a voluntary, flexible basis to address basic concerns about student life and learn from experiences of an already established student on the course.

Buddy's are volunteer undergraduate students who will be entering their 2^nd or 3^rd year of study, who have undergone training to help equip them for their role.

Buddy's are normally matched with one or two first year students from the same course (and discipline). 

Their experiences and knowledge are of paramount importance to the effectiveness of this scheme  in helping support you in your first year!

Welcome to the Swansea University Nursing Society (SUNS) 

This society is currently being revamped for 2022-23. Throughout the year we'll be hosting a multitude of socials, including themed nights out and beach BBQ's. .

SUNS will be open to all fields of nursing (Adult, Mental Health, & Child) for both Singleton Campus and St David's Park Campus

We’re keen to develop a St David Park group, working with us, to host events local to the St David's Park campus and the society are looking for two social secretaries from the September intake to be part of this!

Your roles would consist of running your own social media pages and organising/running socials. These may be nights out, picnics, and any other event you can think of, and that members are keen for. You’d also be expected to attend regular committee meetings.
