Congratulations on securing a place to study at the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science- School of Health & Social Care

We can’t wait to meet you in September and wanted to give you some important hints and tips before you join us for induction.

On this page, you will find key information that you can refer to ahead of and during your studies with us. We hope that this will get you excited about starting University and will hopefully help to settle any nerves you may have.

Your Nursing induction sessions will take place between Monday and Thursday.

Throughout our degree programmes we work to provide our students with opportunities in and around your School, the city with our industry partners and sign-post for international opportunities available to you. As a student at Swansea University, you will have the opportunity to engage with industry, take on placement opportunities and complete work experience, so that you are fully equipped for the world of work when you leave us. This process is facilitated by the Careers and Employability team who aim to provide careers advice and employment opportunities all under one roof.

Academic Support

Centre for Academic Success

As well as subject specific support by college teaching staff and your personal academic mentor, the Centre for Academic Success provides courses, workshops and one-to-one support in areas such as:

Academic writing
Maths and statistics
Critical thinking
Time management
Digital skills
Presentation skills
Note taking
Revision, memory and exam techniques
English language skills (if English is not your first language).

In addition, if you have a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD), disability, mental health or medical condition, the Centre for Academic Success have Specialist Tutors to support your learning, working alongside the Disability Office and Wellbeing Service to support all your needs and requirements whilst studying at Swansea University.

Welcome to the Swansea University Nursing Society (SUNS)

SUNS will be open to all fields of nursing (Adult, Mental Health, & Child) for both Singleton Campus and St David's Park Campus

SUNS is a society run by and for student nurses, and anyone else who fancies coming along! We are in the process of trying to re-build this society after more than 2 years dormant, so please be patient with us.

Throughout the year we plan to host a multitude of socials, including laid-back meets, active outings, and maybe some more academic events too.

We want to host socials respectful of nursing students' unique make up, including BSc, MSc and further studies; mature students, parents, those living at home, those working part time, etc. We are proud to be a multi-cultural, multi-faith and inclusive society for all, without exception. Our variety makes the course so much greater, and we want to appreciate and accommodate this as best we can. Your Society leads feel strongly that this is a very unique experience, one that we should network and support eachother through. So please, let us know if you have any ideas that you want to see come to life and we'll try our best to do so. We will also need help running the show so if you'd like to join as an officer, please email!
